Georgia
Tech added to its collection of ACC hardware Sunday as the Yellow Jackets
captured the ACC men’s golf championship at Old North State Club.
It was
the Yellow Jackets’ 14th team championship as they rolled to a
seven-stroke victory over Virginia. Georgia Tech finished at 27-under par 837, playing
the final round in rainy, breezy and cool conditions.
The
Cavaliers were led by Ben Rusch, who won the ACC individual championship, becoming
the first Virginia golfer since Pete Arend in 1955 to win the league title.
Florida
State finished third in the team competition, Virginia Tech and Clemson tied
for fourth followed by Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, N.C. State, Maryland
and Boston College.
Earlier this month, Duke claimed its 17th women's golf championship led by medialist Lindy Duncan.
