Phil Mickelson and Trevor Immelman are the latest high-profile golfers to officially commit to play in the Quail Hollow Championship next week.
The addition of Mickelson, the second-ranked player in the world, gives the tournament nine of the top 15 in the current world rankings.
That number will increase if, as expected, Tiger Woods and Geoff Ogilvy, commit later this week.
Mickelson has three top-10 finishes in five starts at Quail Hollow while Immelman lost the 2006 championship to Jim Furyk in a sudden-death playoff.
Other top-15 players already in the field include Sergio Garcia (No. 3); Padraig Harrington (No. 6); Vijay Singh (No. 8); Camilo Villegas (No. 10); Robert Karlsson (No. 11); Steve Stricker (No. 12); defending champion Anthony Kim (No. 13); and Furyk (No. 14).
Daily tickets are sold out for Saturday and nearing a sellout for Friday and Sunday. Weekly grounds passes and practice-day packages are available at www.qhchampionship.com or at the event kiosk in Southpark Mall.

I'm not sure Charlotte realizes what a kick a$$ golf tourney we have here.
Tiger is not coming.
Now that Phil has committed, I'm sure he thinks he has completed our lives once again. Sorry Phil, no more support from this home.
Obviously the tournament sponsors have upped the appearance perks, given to families and entourages of big name golf stars to get them to show up. Guess Tiger wants a bit more.

Spoke to him on the phone Sunday evening. Yes he is.
We could have 14 of the top 15 but without Tiger the tournament is not a major attraction. Give the guy his due and get him here! He is worth every penny.
Tiger never commits until a few days before.... chill out.
Idiots that know nothing about Tiger's plans ought to shut up. Nine times out of ten their information is incorrect. And this is one of those times.
you folks are so off base...there are no appearance fees & even if Tiger does not show up this is still a world class event that the pros WANT to come to...it does pay over a million $$ to the winner & the course is one of the best on tour...this tournament has quickly beome one of the premier non-major events on tour... you are only attending to see Tiger, please do not come, you will just be in my way to see the golf...PS: I bet he shows...
FINALLY SOMEONE WAS RIGHT...Who thought they get appearance fee's???Idiots...Tiger is buddies with MJ, and they play in the PRO AM every WED. He will be here...unless his knee is hurt.
I wonder if he will hang out with Mike and Skipper this year? Surely he will think more of himself than to do that this year. When Skipper tees off during the pro-am the marshalls shoul say HUSH-HUSH instead of queit.
Perks and fees are two different things, kids. You dont' have to give somebody cash to make sure they get driven wherever they want to go in a nice new car.
